Self-Care Routine: The Miracle Morning

Have you heard of The Miracle Morning? Written by Hal Elrod, the book talks about a routine that includes affirmations, writing and exercise that can help you start the day well, so that the rest of your day goes well too. Being huge advocates for self-care and routines together, we’ll show you how you can use aromatherapy and essential oils to enhance your morning routines. 

 

1. Read for 15 minutes 

According to the book, we shouldn’t worry too much about how we build a morning routine. Instead, Elrod suggests that we take ideas from the people who have already successfully managed to get to a state of calmness, productivity and joy they are content with. Taking 15 minutes in the morning to read a few pages of the book that’s been sitting on your bedside table since forever is one of the best ways to start. It’s also relaxing!

2. Affirmations

Affirmations are short sentences that are aligned with what you want to accomplish, and what you need to do to get there. Even though they are short, they are powerful as they stay imprinted in your subconscious. When repeated out loud over time, they have the ability to transform our thoughts and behaviours by replacing limiting beliefs with the ones we need to be successful and accomplish our goals.

3. Visualisations

When we visualise, we train our brains to see things as we would like them to be, instead of how they are. Elrod says that we should take 5 minutes to visualise our ideal day - including how we act in front of different situations, how we handle our work and interactions, and how we feel enjoyment and confidence from them. 


As a result, we’ll receive the day with openness, acceptance and a positive attitude. 

4. Exercise

Don’t worry, you don’t need to go on long training sessions in the morning. By ‘exercise’, Elrod refers to anything from a 10 minute yoga session in your living room, a walk around your neighbourhood, or a quick jog around the block. Implementing exercise in your morning routine will get blood and oxygen circulating to your brain - waking you up and getting you going.

5. Writing

That way, positive and uplifting thoughts can take the stand.

6. Meditation 

Meditation is definitely an important step of a self-care morning routine. Silencing your mind through meditation has limitless benefits to your wellbeing - reducing stress and anxiety, encouraging a calm state of mind and enhancing creativity being one of the most important ones.
